Sarika had an eye that saw magic, where most of us only saw the mundane. She was able to capture light, where most of us only saw shadows. She undertook many journeys to experiment with her art in places like Morocco, Italy, Thailand, Mexico, Bali and her own backyard. A bohemian, a humanist, a friend, a champion for women and most simply, a loving, sweet companion to so many and a beloved, treasured member of her tribe.
Her final years
After many years of working in journalism, she left Toronto to pursue a meditation and art retreat, offering numerous workshops on creativity and well-being.Nestled on 10 acres of forest near the village of Erin, Ontario, the Khel Centre for Creativity and Inner Peace merged her passions for creating beautiful spaces, photography, nature and spirituality. Sar spent her final years with her partner, Tom, and beloved animals and could be found hours a day in meditation and quietly walking in nature, finding magic all around her.
For Sar, creativity was an expression of divinity. As she told Retreat Guru, “The only way to truly understand it is to feel it.” We know Sarika touched and inspired so many of you over the course of her life. We hope her photos help you see the magic of the world through her eyes.
